Daytime Running Light System Disconnect Switch
| Top (middle) switch: | |||||
| Off: | Disables Daytime Running Light by connecting the CHG- terminal on DRL Relay to ground, essentially ignoring the ready signal from the Body ECU. This is done at the ID2 connector, for convenience. You can turn the daytime running lights on at any time after the car is "started" and the parking brake released, but when you turn the switch back off, the daytime running lights will only turn off after the ignition is turned off. In other words, if you want the DRL system off (disabled) then the switch must be in the off position before you "start" the car. This switch does not have any effect on regular low beam or high beam headlights. | ||||

| Method: | At ID2 connector (Left Kick Panel, circled in yellow), removed pin 7 (Y-B wire). Using a spdt switch (middle switch in "Switch Addition" picture below), "COMMON" to pin 7 of ID2 (red & white-red wires), "ON" (green wire) to Y-B wire (black tape), "OFF" to ground (black wire to ground point on left). The new cable (3-conductor, 18ga, standed) from the new switch containing the black, green and red wires is painted yellow below. The only reason the red & white-red wires are connected (using the white bx connector) is that the white-red is a solid wire that works as a substitute for pin 7. I left the pin connector on the Y-B wire so that I can easily put it back to factory condition later, if I want. | ||||
